My Day 1 of the Holiday Challenge
November 29, 2015
While the 2015 Concept2 Holiday Challenge started at midnight the moment the calendar ticked over to November 26, I didn’t get on the seat until an hour ago, then I put in a slow 10k towards the 200k I need to log between now and midnight Christmas Eve: 23:59:59.
Well, more accurately, 10,042 meters, tonight, in 58:53.3. Super slow and while I watched The Leftovers on HBO, the minutes I missed in Kingsman after the fire alarm went off at Regal Cinemas Potomac Yard 16, and then started watching the unrated version of Fifty Shades of Grey on HBO before I ran out of time in addition to petering out.
Maybe another 20k tomorrow in order to do some catching up.
I was very slow, clocking an appalling 2:55.9 pace, which is shameful if I cared about that right now — and only 510 calories.
Right now, I am more interested in meters and playing catch-up than straining myself and cutting my 200,000+ meters short through some sort of preventable lame injury.
So, I am going to wade in slowly and should again be a pretty strong rower by the time Christmas has come to pass.
I will be sure to try to roll in some of my love affair with the kettlebell into the mix.
Wish me luck for the rest of the challenge.
