Saturday Night Fall Team Challenge Update

I flaked on September 28th but am back today, the 29th. I rowed 11,231 meters tonight, adding it to the 75,211 meters I had already logged. So, as of now, my total challenge meters are 86,442 meters. I’m 43.221% to my goal of reaching 200 kilometers by October 15 at midnight. Wish me luck!  Advertisements

Thursday Fall Team Challenge Update

At least I am getting some meters in. Slow but sure. Wish me luck. All goes well! Commitment, dedication, and hard word—perserverance—is indeed rewarded. And I learned something: while the top competitors in a Concept2 challenge row hard and far every day of the challenge, everyone else is like the people who join a gym for […]

A fresh and simple arugula and walnut pesto recipe from my sisters at 1970 Dogwood Street

When Anne Haas and Jen Tucker post a recipe, I jot it down. I love pesto, though I don’t think I’ve ever had an arugula and walnut variant. Ever since I got right with pasta and potatoes, I am back in love with lovely sauces, and pesto is one of the most refreshing, healthy, restoring, […]

Planning for 20 more erging days left in the Concept2 Fall Team Challenge

Between now and midnight, October 15, I have 20 full days to row at least 200,000 meters. So far, I’ve rowed 59,508 meters and have 140,492 meters left to go. That requires me to erg an average of 7,024.6 meters-per-day between now and then. I feel pretty good about this as I’ve been getting in […]

Tuesday Fall Team Challenge Update

I didn’t get as many meters as I wanted tonight primarily because of technical failures. I moved from POLAR H7 back to an old school Garmin ANT+ strap and disabled my USB thumb drive on my PM5 and then needed to swap out a dying Apple iPhone 5 and set up my Samsung S8 Active […]

Neither Arlington, Virginia, my home, nor Washington, DC, made either of these lists. That said, I’m pretty damn single.

Sunday Fall Team Challenge Update

I spent parts of all day rowing along a little bit at a time but I added 11,289 meters to the 39,946 meters I had accrued. So, according to my lovely Concept2 Logbook’s 2018 Fall Team Challenge page, I’m up to 51,235 meters total–that means I am 25.6175% of the way to my goal of 200,000 meters, 200kms, […]

I’m running for two hours on October 7 for the #GRGR18

I didn’t sign up for any races this year. They’re expensive and what I really need to do is run, Forrest, run! However, when it comes to being a fanboy of The Ginger Runner on YouTube, how could I resist when he, Ethan Newberry, and his beautiful wife, Kim Teshima (Mile Long Legs), hold a virtual […]

Fall Team Challenge Saturday Update

I had another sinus headache from just not staying hydrated enough overnight again so I didn’t really start rowing until late–almost 8 PM. Then, I only got in 7,733 meters.
