Memories of my SOMA Delancey Gucci Bike POW MIA RIP Berlin
June 12, 2019
After my Bianchi Pista single speed bike was stolen and before I moved to Berlin, Germany, I bought the Delancey frame from SOMA bikes and had it built up at Capitol Hill Bikes, RIP, now City Bikes Capitol Hill.
I ordered every single expensive accessory I could find, from Salsa to Brooks to White Industries to all the other little details such as a track bike chain and chainring and freewheel. Maybe you can identify all the pieces.
I even forget what sort of crankset I had. I think I might have even splurged for a Chris King headset and maybe some cool bottom bracket.
I don’t remember.
I just know that it was stolen away from me after I left it behind in Berlin after I needed to rush back to DC for something and never really got back very quickly.
Here’s a memoriam to my one and only truly Guccified bike.
From then on, I kept them basic, from my Specialized Langster Gangster, that was basically stock, to my Surly Steamroller that sports an after-market Sturmey Archer S3x 3 speed internal fixed gear hub, my bright red White Industries ENO Rear Hub, and my two-finger Salsa brake leavers.
