Got the OK to Spin, Row, and Run!
August 8, 2019
I had to beg and I had to plead but I got the OK to run, to Spin, and to get back on the Erg. This Fat Erger will pull a Fat Ergo again!
My messy CBreeze hack on my Model C Concept2 rowing ergometer to make it work best for me
February 7, 2019
I was having a terrible time keeping my CBreeze on the fan so I glued sloppy please rails on either side of my Concept2 Model C’s fan. Really messy. Used a silicon glue. The paracord rails aren’t going anywhere. No more struggling with the placement of the elastic cords.
Planning for 20 more erging days left in the Concept2 Fall Team Challenge
September 26, 2018
Between now and midnight, October 15, I have 20 full days to row at least 200,000 meters. So far, I’ve rowed 59,508 meters and have 140,492 meters left to go. That requires me to erg an average of 7,024.6 meters-per-day between now and then. I feel pretty good about this as I’ve been getting in […]
Tuesday Fall Team Challenge Update
September 25, 2018
I didn’t get as many meters as I wanted tonight primarily because of technical failures. I moved from POLAR H7 back to an old school Garmin ANT+ strap and disabled my USB thumb drive on my PM5 and then needed to swap out a dying Apple iPhone 5 and set up my Samsung S8 Active […]
Sunday Fall Team Challenge Update
September 23, 2018
I spent parts of all day rowing along a little bit at a time but I added 11,289 meters to the 39,946 meters I had accrued. So, according to my lovely Concept2 Logbook’s 2018 Fall Team Challenge page, I’m up to 51,235 meters total–that means I am 25.6175% of the way to my goal of 200,000 meters, 200kms, […]
Fall Team Challenge Saturday Update
September 22, 2018
I had another sinus headache from just not staying hydrated enough overnight again so I didn’t really start rowing until late–almost 8 PM. Then, I only got in 7,733 meters.

Getting some rowing in (I never remotely do it enough: frequency, intensity, or duration)
September 10, 2018
I was able to motivate myself enough, even after a terrible sinus headache, into doing almost seven thousand easy meters. It wasn’t a lot in terms of intensity, distance, or duration, but I got it done. And, as always, I am forever the optimist that this will suddenly really take and that every day I will do either an erg, a run–or both. Hope springs eternal! Just do it!
I’m my own worst enemy
September 10, 2018
Every day is a series of successes, failures, excuses, being a weather wimp (which doesn’t work because I have an erg), and blaming a launch sprint crunch. It’s all bullshit. There’s always time for a run or a row, after all. But this makes me way more accountable. And I mark all my fails in the book and yellow-highlight them.
Membership in the Potomac Boat Club Concept2 Team is Empowering
March 25, 2018
The Concept2 virtual team challenge, World Erg Challenge, is ten-days old and I’ve only clocked 24,607 meters so far–but I am still mid-pack in the Potomac Boat Club. For context, challenge leader, Parker Sheppard, has clocked 126,445 meters–more than 100,000 meters ahead of me. But I am picking up and am hopeful and am also having fun and am […]
