Getting some rowing in (I never remotely do it enough: frequency, intensity, or duration)

I was able to motivate myself enough, even after a terrible sinus headache, into doing almost seven thousand easy meters. It wasn’t a lot in terms of intensity, distance, or duration, but I got it done. And, as always, I am forever the optimist that this will suddenly really take and that every day I will do either an erg, a run–or both. Hope springs eternal! Just do it!

I’m my own worst enemy

Every day is a series of successes, failures, excuses, being a weather wimp (which doesn’t work because I have an erg), and blaming a launch sprint crunch. It’s all bullshit. There’s always time for a run or a row, after all. But this makes me way more accountable. And I mark all my fails in the book and yellow-highlight them.

At first, I thought that the polypro unisex ErgTrou by JLRacing was a gimmick. All I could see that was any different at first blush was that gimmicky alternative logo of a stick figure little unisex person on a Concept2 indoor rower and a slit pocket at the small of the back in which you can stow your smartphone or MP3 player while you’re doing all the meters on your erg.
